Summary:

Troy is calling out for his new single The Calling to dent the UK charts, along with forthcoming studio album Invocation.

It’s only just over two weeks since my hearing has recovered from Troy Redfern shaking the foundations of the Civic Hall in Nantwich, for his first sold out headline gig there, so it’s time to strap on my headphones to review his latest single ‘The Calling’, the fourth one taken from his upcoming third studio album Invocation, released via RED7 Records on May 17th, 2024. He played a few tracks from it at the Nantwich show, boding well for the album that will be limited edition coloured vinyl, black vinyl, plus two different CD cover artwork designs. All formats are available to pre-order from http://troyredfern.com .

The single is a lean, mean, rock and roll machine of moody vibes thrown out by the trademark virtuosity of Troy’s guitar histrionics. A sparse chorded intro segues into the first verse of fretboard forays that weave around his clenched teeth lead vocals, pinned down by a rock steady rhythm section. At the two minute mark, the blue touch paper is lit for a guitar solo that’s unleashed for maximum ferocity to forge the fire for dreamy choruses, returning to the laid back verses that draw this magnum opus to a shuddering climax!

Troy proclaims “I’ve always wanted to write a slow motion, epic kind of tune. “The Calling” was a song that was born out of that desire. This song is about escaping the technical net we all live in and to get into the wilderness to reset and get perspective on what’s important in life.”
