Summary:

An album that I've really enjoyed listening to. It's one that's well worth checking out.

The Dark Light are a very international band. Formed in London by Italian guitarist Marco Simoncelli, the band contains an English singer (who grew up in New Zealand), a German drummer, and English bassist and a second Italian guitarist. The band formed in 2015 but it wasnt till 2017, shortly before recording of this album started that the current lineup was completed, and are now releasing their debut album.

The album kicks off with a fantastic bass line that really gets the anticipation levels up before the guitar kicks in and then finally the vocals. Check out the opening track, “She likes it” here…

The band’s facebook page lists some of the band’s they like which includes some that you can hear the influences of in the music as you listen to the album – The Stooges, Oasis, The Rolling Stones. It’s great rock’n’roll with a bit of an Indie rock feel to it. Overall it’s got a fresh modern feel but also includes some 60s sounding bits such as in “Be mine”.

One of my favourite tracks is the excellent “Watching you burn” – a nice energetic rock and roll song. It’s one of many great songs on the album, and I can imagine many of these songs will sound fantastic live.

Check out “It’s alright”…
