October 31 – Gone to the Devil EP (Hells Headbangers Records)

October  3october 31 - gone to the devil cover1 Formed back in 1995 and is a collaboration of members from other well respected underground bands among them King Fowley (Deceased) and Jim Hunter(While Heaven Wept, Twisted Tower Dire). The title track is a quick of the mark with a riff dragged straight from the 80s, rib cracking with screaming solos and Fowley’s trademark vocals, whilst not melodic they are very aggressive in delivery without going into “shouted” territory. The riffs range from thrash to traditional heavy metal, there is no frills, just does exactly what you expect from this mix of characters. The second track is a cover of Uriah Heep’s “Too Scared to Run” from their 82’s Abominog, which I think is an odd period of Heep to choose from. They give it the October 31 treatment but retain the classic Heep structure. It has been 8 years since a full length from these guys and this will keep your head banging until the next album. Great artwork as well, which will look great in the 7″ format, thankfully it is a format that bands are still keen to release.
