Lucky Thir 13n – March Of The Young

[media-credit name=”Lucky Thir 13n” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]Lucky Thir13n is an oddly named band from Greece. “Lucky Thirteen” would sound right but “Lucky Thir13n” just doesnt read right to me, so I’m not sure why they didnt just call themselves Lucky Thirteen. The band have supported bands including Crashdiet and WASP as well as playing their own headline shows and making festival appearances within Greece.
The band have released a five track EP (Far from home), and are now releasing their debut album – March of the young.

The album starts with Alibi, and its gentle sound with a flute clearly audible had me wondering what to expect – a watered down poppy version of Jethro Tull perhaps, but then the guitars kick in with some power and my doubts are cleared up – it is rock after all – or at least rock with an indie feel to it.

Forever Free (March of the young) has a My Chemical Romance feel to it, which is likely to go down well with fans.

R’n’R features a guest vocalist and is a great track.

Operation overload is another good rock track and a great way to end the album (“Say Goodbye” isn’t included in the review copy I got).

Favourite song on the album? Probably R’n’R, but Operation Overload is a close second. A good debut album from these Greek rockers.

March of the young will be released on 23rd September.
