I See Vultures – Interview

UK post-hardcore crew I SEE VULTURES have just released their formidable new single, Neversafe,. The emerging noisenuts have also set loose a new video for the track, here – https://youtu.be/pocbvA9uxN8 . With this in mind, we decided to grill the band with a few questions:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

Dan Adamson (Vocals), Dave Young (Guitar and Vocals), Jamie Pywell (Bass and vocals), Mitch Pinkerton (Guitar and vocals) and Hussein Uraiby (Drums).

How and when did the band form?

Dan, Dave and Hussein started the band in 2018 after the split of a previous venture a couple of years earlier. This band was created with the intention of going places creatively that they weren’t able to previously, freeing themselves of stereotypical limitations so many bands find themselves adhering to.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

When Jamie and Mitch joined in late 2018, the band became I See Vultures. We instantly became a strong unit, with Dave’s layered songwriting and Dan’s unique vocal structuring, delivery and lyricism, the band as a whole were able to craft a sound and style that we were proud to put out there and share.

Who are your mu

sical influences?

We all listen to a wide range of music with a lot of it not being of a similar genre however we have previously been referred to as ‘for fans of: Beartooth, At The Drive In, Comeback Kid, Fee The Rhino, Rage Against The Machine and Gallows’.

Where did the name of the band come from?

The band name comes from the lyrics of one our first songs. It was about how the world is made up of many kinds of people, with the worst of them being like vultures. They pick apart those weaker – emotionally, financially and physically. I see these vultures everywhere and hate ‘em. It’s a name, sure, but it’s also a statement – (Dan)

How far back does your history with each other (the band members) extend?

Overall the band goes back over a decade. All in all, we’ve shared stages together in different, and sometimes the same, bands for over 15 years.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

If you want a hit of loud, angry, intense and emotional music, a listen to I See Vultures will do the trick. If you want nuance, layers, and depth, you get that too. Because we write what we want to hear, carefully crafted, interesting music with complexity that means there’s a good chance you’re gonna pick up something new from the track on repeated listens.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

It’s intense, emotive, layered, and fresh, beholden to no genre, limits and clichés.

Where can we find your social media sites?

Our music is available on all major streaming platforms. https://open.spotify.com/artist/1kOYDOORDU8m32tnMPQjJB
