Summary:

From beginning to end, this is a balls out maelstrom of evil, filthy blackened death metal. If you are into bands like Outre Tomb, Teitanblood, Angelcorpse, Blasphemy, Blood Chalice, and Encryptment to name but a few, then this is really going to skullfuck your corpse for you!

The Indiana DM band’s first full-length release is pure filth…

Desekryptor are relative newcomers to the death metal scene, having formed in 2017. Since then, they have released a couple of demos, one split (with Dragkhar), and one EP. Now we have their full-length debut to assault our listening flaps!

It’s a new band to me, so once I saw this on our review list, I had to have it. A little research shows they are on the Blood Harvest label – always a sign of a filthy rotten sound!

Were my instincts correct?!

Of course they were! After almost 30 seconds of noise akin to seething magma beneath the crust of the planet, we are greeted with those vocals reminiscent of being recorded at the bottom of a very deep mine shaft. Belching forth over a vortex of blastbeats and muddy guitars and bass, my initial thoughts were “this is nowt special”. However, as one continues to listen, some really subtle and great groove works its way into the track.

Throughout the 8 tracks laid before us, there is enough variation from grooves, to doomy passages, to all-out nuclear blast beats, underpinning the fetid monster of the vocal delivery. So on first listen, you may find it a bit repetetive, subsequent play throughs reveal more and more, including – dare I say it – some tasty little earworms and melodic hooks. And don’t worry I’m not talking they go all Swedeath on us! It’s certainly not going to re-write the DNA of this variation on death metal, but its fine stuff! my favourite tracks being “Dagger In The Christ“, “Abysmal Resurrection” and “Nervegas Crematorium

Summing it up…
