For a band only formed in the harsh winter months of 2010, in Manchester, this band have soon become very self assured in what music these bad boys of rock in roll wanna play.
They wanna play blues inspired rock, and they wanna play it loud.
Their 3 track ep has just landed on my doorstep and its easy to see how they have been pulling in big crowds in small venues around their home city of Manchester. Playing a cross between Guns n Roses, meets Clutch, with a hint of Pantera, straight up, no messing about hard rock, with a handful of blues. Sounds intoxicating.
The opening track “Something more” is a slab of blues infected hard rock, sleezy blues guitar work over a thunderous bass line, with a fine vocal performance from Tommy Mitten.
The 2nd track “Morning injection” made me smile with the subject matter, the guitar hook on this is great, with Tommys vocals driving this song along nicely, countering more sleezy guitar work from Al Turnbull.
The last song on this self released ep is “Jealous contradiction” this is a slower song, but no less powerful, in fact, this song oozes’ bad boy blues, but soon cranks up in tempo to a rousing chorus led finale.
I think this is a great E.P, these are one of the best bands to come out of Manchester in a long time, The live performance this band deliver on stage is just as kick ass, and I cant wait to catch them live again.8/10
