Wakeman, Wobble and Thompson is not a solicitors office

A new album from The Fusion Syndicate, A Speedway On Saturn’s Rings, will be released on 22 September 2023 through Cleopatra Records.

On it Rick Wakeman (YES) has joined forces with bassist Jah Wobble (PiL) and drummer Chester Thompson (Frank Zappa, Weather Report, Genesis) for a track entitled Io, the fourth largest of Jupiter’s moons, there is a link to the video below.  This collaboration raised a few eyebrows and the track itself is no limp biscuit, it is led by Wakeman with lots of synth soloing backed by a killer groove provided by Wobble and Thompson.

The upcoming album also features appearances from Jan Akkerman, Bootsy Collins, Al Di Meola, Jerry Goodman (Weather Report), Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report), Didier Malherbe (Gong), Chris Poland (Megadeth), Steve Stevens and many more luminaries.

As is par for the course these days A Speedway On Saturn’s Rings will include bonus tracks, as well as remixes of tracks from the first Fusion Syndicate album which features Billy Sheehan and Derek Sherinian and whole host of others.

The Fusion Syndicate first appeared in 2012 with the release of their monumental first album produced by Yes bassist Billy Sherwoodwho had already been involved in a series called The Prog Collective. Likewise, The Fusion Syndicate taps into musicians in the prog and jazz fusion world to produced new music that is fusion-based.
