UDO – Live In Sofia

German heavy metal singer Udo Dirkschneider was born on April 6, 1952. He  is best known as the vocalist in German heavy metal band Accept before he left in 1987  to form U.D.O. He as not lost his roots as on occasion he still performs with Accept as well as doing guest appearances including the Eurovision song contest where Lordi  won the 2006 contest.  Udo is well known for his unique voice, short stature, camouflage clad image.

‘Live In Sofia’ is a DVD and 2CD package, which was released in November via AFM Records.

The album starts of slow and soft and you start thinking to yourself is this really a heavy metal band but then that’s where you get the surprise as then kicks in its really clever  how  ‘Rev-Raptor‘, the 1sttrack starts.

‘Princess Of The Dark’ was out of this world as it blew me away. Another great track on the album is ‘Balls To The Wall’ it as everything you would want in a metal band then the drum solo is really mind blowing and out of this world!

I was expecting U.D.O to be a real death metal sound but they are not as they deliver pure heavy metal!!  This album is well worth a listen, I would recommend anyone to go out and buy it as you are getting over 2 hours of metal!!You will not get bored listening to it. I could not even say which my favourite is as I enjoyed all the tracks on it.

The band have really sat down and done their homework and worked out exactly what people would want from their shows. They treat their fan to a superb collection of their old and new hits.

I would definitely give this album 8/10 as it is an amazing live album.

About Del Preston

So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweet shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me and Keith Moon and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweet shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shop owner and his son, that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business really. But sure enough, I got the M&Ms and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.
