The Hot Damn-‘About Last Night’-Single Review-Planetmosh.

Sometimes, rock and roll can get a bit too serious so it’s time to kick back and party with the welcome return of ‘The Hot Damn’, and they do know how to party hard, point proven by ‘About Last Night’, latest single taken from their debut studio album, “Dancing On The Milky Way”, on Fat Earth Records.

Check out the above lyric video to see all hell break loose! It’s a drum driven headbanger, full of raucous riffing and sugar sweet choruses peppered with “Mother*ucker.

‘About Last Night’ showcases The Hot Damn!’s mischievous streak and punkier edge – all raw power, attitude and tongue-in-cheek harmony. And yes, they’ve even managed to turn their favourite four-syllable expletive into a three-part singalong!

Hailing from Marlow, Buckinghamshire, The Hot Damn! exploded onto the scene in 2021, forged from the flames of The Amorettes and Tequila Mockingbyrd. The powerhouse line-up brings together Gill Montgomery (The Amorettes), Josie O’Toole (Tequila Mockingbyrd), Laurie Buchanan (Aaron Buchanan and the Cult Classics) and Lzi Hayes (New Device / Sophie Lloyd band).

Speaking of the track, singer-guitarist Gill Montgomery proclaims:

“‘About Last Night’ is the soundtrack to your bad decisions – but the kind you’ll laugh about later. It’s cheeky, messy, and probably the reason you’re texting your ex at 2AM. Think of it as the confession booth for everything you probably shouldn’t admit… but secretly love to. This isn’t a love song – it’s a hungover diary entry with a killer hook, made for anyone who’s ever woken up wondering what the hell happened.”

Drummer Josie O’Toole adds:

“The idea for the video was actually inspired by Coldplay, of all people! In their video for ‘The Scientist’ the storyline plays out in reverse using backwards footage. We thought the same principle could work beautifully for us; telling the tale of a (very good) night out by starting at the end and working back through the chaos to how it all began – it makes for some interesting viewing – and it’s all based on true events! Big ups to The Duke in Marlow, and D&P Luxury Toilets for helping us recreate those magical memories.”
