Beginning in 2011, Orange County, California rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck flex their muscles for their latest single ‘Hold On’. Released by Joe Bonamassas’s Journeyman Records, and produced by Kevin Shirley, to my ears, it’s a raw, dirt under the fingernails, four fretboard burning minutes of rock and roll heaven. The main riff could stop a charging rhino at sixty paces, but also displays a lighter side of beautiful melodies, especially from the honey soaked lead vocals, that also bite down hard. It’s all pinned down precisely by a watertight rhythm section, and a raw as you like it outro wailing guitar solo to end this bombastic single!
