Reign of Fury, pre-Bloodstock festival interview

Reign of Fury are set to ruin the New Blood Stage on Sunday 12th at this year’s Bloodstock.

We catch up with Magic Dave and  Matt “Bison” Steed to find out more about them, the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s will see!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band?

I’m Magic Dave drummer of Reign of Fury. We started back in 2006 but after a short life we dispanded and reformed again as this line up in 2008.We play Metal and our influences range from all sorts. Pennywise, C.O.C, Anthrax, Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and loads more.

We all used to be in different Punk bands but we all love metal. After a few phone calls, we all went to see Testament in Bristol, organised some rehearsals and Reign of Fury Mk 2 was created. We started this band so we could give people metal the way we like it.

Bison Steed voice, I joined way after the others, in fact I got badgered to join by Jon for about a year before actually trying out for the band. It was a “shut the fuck up! I’ll give it a go” kinda moment and I’m really glad I did it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before?

Magic Dave I’ve not been to Bloodstock before so this is gunna be awesome. You can only have your first Bloodstock experience once.

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?

Magic Dave Why not? This is Bloodstock. This is a true metal fest and you would be stupid not to want to be a part of it.

Bison Because it means getting our music out to the right people, its a great festival with a great community of like minded individuals, why wouldn’t we want to be part of it?

What was your initial reaction when you found out you where playing on the New Blood Stage?

Magic Dave HELL YEAH! Lets get practicing! Then we looked at the line up! We were fucking stoked!

Bison I celebrated by giving myself a hangover

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?

Bison It looks great, so many awesome bands playing this year, really looking forward to it.

Magic Dave Fuckin awesome line up Testament, Nile, Alice Cooper. It’s such a strong line up and we are part of it. Download could learn a lot from Bloodstock

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?

Magic Dave Playing our set and having an awesome Metal experience!

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

Bison Well we have carefully crafted a set list that we think is killer, its gonna be fast, heavy and fucking metal.

Magic Dave A lively jam packed set. We’ve got a lot to prove in short amount of time so we’ll be putting everything into our performance. Plus we want to come back next year.

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?

Magic Dave No I can’t! Just get down to the best metal festival in the UK and earn those heavy metal stripes!

Bison Somewhere between Hell and eternal bliss lies an ethereal plain of pure metal existence swarming with creatures of the night, clad in denim and leather, eyes red, ears bleeding, stomach full of ale, this is our battleground, this is Valhalla, this is Bloodstock…………..I may have gone overboard with that lol.
