Summary:

Praying Mantis raise expectations higher once more, by releasing 'Standing Tall', latest single from new album Defiance.

NWOBHM flag flyers Praying Mantis, tease us for a second time, releasing ‘Standing Tall’, following ‘Defiance’, taken from a forthcoming album of the same name, released by Frontiers Music on April 19th 2024. Formed in London 1973 by the Troy brothers Tino and Chris (Tino wrote ‘Standing Tall’). That line up was completed by Steve Carroll on guitar/vocals, and Dave Potts on drums.

Defiance will be their thirteenth studio album, their first being Time Tells No Lies in 1981.

‘Standing Tall’ grabbed me from the off, as a sublime guitar lead intro heads off into a keyboard drenched, heavy melodic rocker, but still packs a hefty punch musically and lyrically as its topic addresses the future of our beleagured planet, but a ray of hope comes from stratospheric height reaching choruses, ending on a full blooded guitar fuelled outro. Job done!
