Machine Head – ‘Bloodstone & Diamonds’

I love Machine Head; they’re innovators of groove metal… but this one is as dull as dishwater.  There are points that almost hurt reviewing this album, because it gets close to being outstanding – then the vocals come in and ruin it. On the surface, this is a good album. …

Santa Cruz

One of the most eagerly anticipated acts to appear at this past weekend’s Hard Rock Hell were Finnish sleazesters Santa Cruz… PlanetMosh pulled up a chair with three-quarters of the group (drummer Taz was off doing whatever it is that drummers do an hour before going on stage) for what …

How will Black Widow, the band's latest effort (which arrived in my letterbox this morning) fare?

Tonight’s bill was a very diverse one.  Supporting rock legends Motörhead were punk legends, The Damned, and German cowboy rock band The BossHoss. The BossHoss kicked things off early – on stage at 7.10, not long after the doors opened.  Despite the early start there was already a decent sized …

Various artists – Ragnarok Juletide

Ragnarok Juletide is a Christmas album – but please read on before running off as this is actually a good album.  It’s a project that has been a success for many years in Finland under the ‘Raskasta Joulua’ (‘Heavy Christmas’) banner, and is a symphonic metal project featuring an impressive …
