No Worth Of Man – Interview

Deeply imposing trio NO WORTH OF MAN have now unleashed their powerful new EP, What’s Your Damage? The UK heavyweights have also released their thumping new single and video, An Unpaintable Soulhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2azNDunVZs . With that in mind, we caught up with the band to find out more:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

Band consists of 3 members, Peter Gale (Vocals) Alex Punchard (Guitars + Bass) and Gareth Lucas (Drums + Samples).

How and when did the band form?.

The band formed in 2016 after a 5-year hiatus from playing together. Peter and Gareth met at the age of 15 and would often jam out music, albeit at a very basic level. Later, they would form the band, Distance to Fault, where they would inevitably meet Alex. The band came to an end due to difficulties within the band, and after the forementioned break, they joined back together as No Worth of Man, with a completely different and unique sound.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

Peter, Alex and Gareth have always played well together, and have a great chemistry. 3 different personalities, complement each other well, which makes for a positive work environment. They know how to laugh at themselves, which helps when spending vast amounts of time on the road between shows. From the offset, all 3 of them just clicked on all levels.

Who are your musical influences?

It varies as music tastes change, but a staple would be, Dream Theater, Lamb of God, Dimmu Borgir and classic rock, such as Led Zepplin.

Where did the name of the band come from?

It came from brain storming idea. Originally called Carcarodon, they needed a new name when they discovered a successful punk band already had this moniker. Gareth came up with Worth of Man and Peter suggested adding No, and that stuck. It has no real meaning; it can mean whatever to whomever. Now, with the image of the band it fits perfectly, and the band use the hashtag #stayworthless, which is a term of endearment to the bands followers.

Where have you played or toured?

The band have played some great UK shows, with some of the industries top artists. They include Karma to Burn, King 810, Puppy, Left to Die (Ex Death Members) and Cultura Tres (Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. – Sepultura) They were also invited to play in Malta, to open for Coffin Birth and Bound to Prevail. No Worth of Man will open for Evile later this year and Venomous Concept (Shane Embury- Napalm Death) in early 2024

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

Being a 3 piece and only having one guitar is a major POS for the band. Utilising modern techniques, they can produce a 2nd guitar and bass line, without the use of backing tracks. This is something that always gains attention at live shows, as visually the crowd struggle to understand where the sound is all coming from.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

Brutal! Aggressive! Energetic! Dark! Eerie! With sinister undertones, driven by tight and precise guitar, vocal and drum work.
