A 5 Piece Swiss melodic power metal/heavy metal band who formed in 1999, this is their sixth release but have not been in the recording studio since their fifth album ‘Damnatio Memoriae’ was released in 2009. So was this album worth the wait?
Okay, I am a simple soul with simple lingo.” No, I just don’t get it.”
Ever listen to something and wonder why/how the vocals ruin a perfectly good entourage of heavy instruments? I do, I feel a little cringe worthy. In fact I have no words to describe how the vocals are ruining a perfect harmony of powerful rhythmic riffs, heavy but gentle drums, traditional guitar solos and solid keyboard work. I just can’t hack the vocals; it’s like listening to my Dad attempting to sing in the shower (sorry Crow!).
Am I missing something? Or maybe I am being a bit harsh? Don’t think so, I listened to this album once and I will never listen to it again unless it is pure instrumental. Even the addition of a female vocalist on the track called ‘Paradise Eternally’ did not persuade my ears to open up.
I can only sum this up as ‘meh’. If the vocals take over an album and the takeover is a warmed up turd – you can keep it. But I do like your guitar and drum work Medusa’s Child! Full marks for effort, but zero marks for achievement. It’s a shame when one thing ruins a whole project.
Check it out if you don’t mind ‘Dad’ singing – otherwise avoid this album at all cost!
