Max Cavalera is to re-unite with his brother Igor again later this year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sepultura’s iconic ‘Roots’ album, by playing the album in its entirely on their Cavalera Conspiracy tour later this year..
That was the exclusive revelation which the Soulfly frontman made when PlanetMosh climbed aboard his tour bus during his stopover in Belfast earlier this week. During our chat, Max also talked about his love of life on the road – including what he described as “tour sickness” – plans for a new Killer Be Killed album by the end of this year, and the possibility of revisiting the style of music he produced with Nailbomb. He also recalled his departure from Sepultura in the wake of the aforementioned ‘Roots’ album – expressing his sadness at allowing outside forces to cause the splinter, before reflecting that it was perhaps “a blessing in disguise” – and proffered the advice he might give to his younger self…
Soulfly’s UK tour, with support from Incite (featuring Richie Cavalera) and Lody Kong (featuring Igor and Zyon Cavalera), plus special guests King Parrot, continues at the Academy 3 in Manchester tonight (Friday 5 February), and then as follows:
Saturday 6 February – Norwich, Waterfront
Sunday 7 February – Wolverhampton, Slade Rooms
Monday 8 February – Brighton, Concorde 2
