@Planetmosh @AnybodyBC reviews ‘The Winter War Symphony’ by Frostbitten Kingdom.

It is really hard to find your own way and sound in music these days. But it is always worth keep trying. That’s what I think when I listen to Finnish metallers Frostbitten Kingdom. Since the very beginning this band has been trying to figure it out and now it’s showing some really good results. After three full-length albums and ten years of existence they have prepared yet another album with quite a cold but solemn title ‘The Winter War Symphony‘.
Frostbitten Kingdom - The Winter War Symphony‘The Winter War Symphony’ is a set of only 5 songs, although it lasts a quite reasonable 35 minutes. As the band name suggest, the music of this Finnish team is highly influenced by legendary Norwegian black metallers Immortal. Although throughout all this time since 2004, Frostbitten Kingdom developed quite a lot. From very cold black metal with the hints of death metal to way more melodic blackened death metal in ‘The Winter War Symphony’. It seems that band leader Henri Kanervo started the creation of this album influenced by history, this time – the Winter War, which happened between Finland and Soviet Union during WWII.
This melodic blackened death metal story begins with the longest track of the set, ‘Warfare & Wilderness’, which has a beautifully melodic and long instrumental intro, followed by solid melodic death metal riffs. It is a great start for the album, the rest of the songs are shorter, yet not compromised. The tempo gets faster with the second track and still feels quite dynamic. Overall, the album feels very continuous, keeps the winterish atmosphere from the very first sound to the last. ‘The Winter War Symphony’ closes with the track ‘Lucid Nightmares of Barbaric Brutality’, which is another slower tempo track – almost ballad, blending melodic guitar solos and dark truth of the war. It pretty much sums up the whole story.

Reviewers pick: ‘Warfare & Wilderness’, the long opening track of the album, which shows the best side of the album and potential of the Frostbitten Kingdom.
‘The Winter War Symphony’ by Frostbitten Kingdom is an epic melodic death metal tale from Finland with history at its blackened core.
