Having sold more than 2 million CD’s and sold out tours across 37 countries Edguy are doing too badly. I doubt that three 14 year olds (Tobias Sammet, Jens Ludwig and Dirk Sauer) who started out in 1992 thought they would be still doing this today. They are back with their 9th studio album, Age Of The Joker.
When I first listened to bits of the album, just after blasting Sabaton’s new release, I wasn’t that impressed. It wasn’t really fair to compare a quick scan through to another album so I gave it the attention it deserved. I’m glad I did. After the first proper listen I thought it wasn’t bad but the more I played it the more it grew on me. This isn’t an album that you need to be in the right frame of mind to listen to. It’s great in the car or turned up loud to piss off the neighbours. If you are a fan of this type of metal then it is well worth getting. If you aren’t, give it a try, you might surprise yourself.
