Born on July 18th, 1939, Dion proves that music does keep us young at heart, as this octogenarian releases ‘Soul Force’, second single taken from a forthcoming studio album ‘Girl Friends’ via Joe Bonamassa’s KTBA Records on March 28th, 2024.

Releasing over forty studio albums in a long career, his new album features a star studded female line up, that includes Joanne Shaw Taylor, Rory Block, Sue Foley and Susan Tedeschi, who plays on ‘Soul Force’. It’s a mesmerising four minutes of sultry blues, so laid back, it’s almost horizontal. Dion lays down a potent lead vocal, and raunchy rhythm guitar licks, leaving the spotlight for some serious fretboard fury par excellence, courtesy of Susan Tedeschi.

Dion proclaims, “I’ve noticed that men play a different tune when there are women in the room, and it’s a different kind of jam when women are in the mix. I don’t know why this is so, but it is. Maybe we men at some primeval level, are competing for their attention. As I said, I don’t know why, or how, but I do know it makes better music, and we’re all better for it.”
