Daughtry – Break The Spell (Tour Edition) cd and dvd

Daughtry are hoping to finally crack the UK market by reissuing their Top 10 US album, ‘Break The Spell’ as a special tour edition to coincide with their support slot on the upcoming Nickelback tour.
Fronted by former American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, the US stars scored back-to-back US Billboard number one records in 2006 and 2009. Their latest offering Break The Spell crashed into the US Billboard charts at number eight last year, and has sold nearly half a million copies in the past eight months.
Over the past five years Daughtry have had four number one hits, they have been nomination for four Grammy awards, sold more than seven million albums and played sold-out concerts around the world.
The band’s self-titled debut was the fastest selling rock debut in Soundscan history and its follow-up ‘Leave This Town’ marked the bands second consecutive number one album.
This revamped tour edition of ‘Break The Spell’ – features a bonus DVD with two music videos and live performances.
Ive had the orginal album since November last year, and playing this deluxe version recently brought it back to me just how good this record really is, and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it since. Every single song hits the spot, the highlights for me are ‘Crawling Back To You’, ‘Outta My Head’, ‘Start Of Something Good’, ‘Break The Spell’ and’ Maybe We’re Already Gone’.
So is it worth buying ?, absolutely if you have never heard of Daughtry until they were announced as Nickelbacks special guests. If you have the original, then there is enough new material on this reissue to tempt you, maybe.
This is an excellent third album, filled with great modern mainstream rock tracks, with a good mix of upbeat fun songs and slow ballads, though the slower songs carry evocative lyrics, especially on “Gone Too Soon”, however this all helps in making this an intelligent record. 8/10
