Plymouth, Devon born, British blues guitarist and vocalist, Bex Marshall releases new single “5am”,on all streaming platforms, ahead of a forthcoming ten track studio album Fortuna, via Dixie Frog Records on March 1st 2024.
To my ears, it’s the smoothest, silkiest four minutes I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing for quite sometime, due to its heartbreaking frailty, point proven by the passion shown in her playing from the above video.
Deft guitar lines set the scene for a luscious intro, as a vocal eases in that could charm the birds from the trees. An old saying of “Less is more” is very relevant, shown by her picking technique. A mournful guitar solo midway, hangs onto some beautiful, laid back notes, ending on a powerful, statement of intent outro.
