Vanitas returned in 2025 with their single ‘Your Demise’ and show no signs of slowing
down, continuing their new era with newest single ‘Lucid Dreams’ out now.
I think I’ve ran out of fingers and toes to count how many reviews I’ve done over the last few years for Vanitas, the Birmingham based head splitters who are still pouring out to the masses, their self proclaimed music genre, ‘cinematic Djent tones’.
My thoughts on ‘Lucid Dreams’ are that it’s definitely the heaviest song they’ve thrown down, point proven by its dizzying time changes that are almost impossible to get a hold of as it bludgeons along on an insane vocal from Jade Maris as all hell breaks loose around her from a cataclysmic drum assault, fretboard fury finger breaking riffing and insane soloing until a brief respite midway brings a creepy spoken piece to the fore to end this colossal song for molten metal meltdown in four frantic minutes.
