Underking-Dungeon Crawler EP Review-Planetmosh.

It seems an interminable age for Mad Maxwell Jeffries to unleash his debut Dungeon Crawler EP, on November 28th, 2025 so of course the wait is over, as these six songs dazzle with some supreme metal overload, point proven by opening track, ‘The Necromancer’. It’s a full on thrash assault, bringing to mind, mid early Exodus. It left me breathless after the first play, raging along on head rattling drum overload for four feral minutes to challenge the metal mettle of your speakers.

‘The Isle Of Crooked Stone’ is all unreal bombast of fretboard fury that also lumbers along for a slow but sure vibe, heading off for a steadfast pound to put the recording levels in the red, around a shimmering vocal cavalcade.

Every cliche in the book belongs to ‘Danger! ‘Darkness! ‘Dwarves’! It srides out with a heraldic tinged performance on swirling keyboards. It’s yet another air guitar inducing song that elevates when the cataclysmic vocals weave their unrelenting magic.

‘King Under The Mountain’ is carried along like early Twisted Sister in their prime, all gang driven vocals, all churned out on some headbanging inducing razor sharp riffing.

‘Dungeon Crawler’is the heaviest neckbreaker by far here that rages and rampages on mindboggling time changes, gang delivered vocals that head off towards a death metal dirge outro.

This highly impressive magnum opus closes far too soon with ‘Fields Of Fire’ (not the Big Country song).

Sparse drum patterns up the encore with a marching into battle attitude, ready to take whatever is thrown at them.
