Chas & Dave to be replaced by Big Boy Bloater

It’s with regret that Chas & Dave won’t be able to appear at Ramblin’ Man Fair this weekend.

Chas is slowly recovering from the knock-on effects of a particularly nasty bout of flu but sadly won’t be fit by the weekend and his doctors have advised extra rest.

Chas and Dave would like to send their regards to their fans and all who were looking forward to seeing them at Ramblin’ Man – they themselves were very much looking forward to playing at such a great festival and hope to have another opportunity to play there in the future.

The band have been replaced by aficionado ‘Big Boy Bloater’

Big Boy Bloater – Bloater has always had a passionate love of music, particularly roots music, and it shows in his work.  He gives old music new life, he twists it into something unique and fun, whilst still having depth and great musicality. He never feels the need to show off his musical skills because they are there for the world to see, he is without doubt one of the finest guitarists in the UK today.

“One of the great blues men of our time” – Jools Holland

“Raucous, rollicking good time Blues” – Classic Rock Magazine

“The finest R&B guitarist & singer in the UK” – The Blues Magazine

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be invited back to RMF to step in for Chas and Dave on the Blues Stage on Sunday. It’s without doubt one of my favourite festivals on the circuit and last year’s gig there was one of my highlights of 2017.  I’m very sorry that Chas and Dave are unable to appear, not just because of the news of illness but because I was personally very excited to watch them and introduce them in my capacity as MC. But the band and I send all best wishes for a speedy recovery. We’ll do our best to entertain the audience in our own way!” says Big Boy Bloater

About Louise Swift

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
