Live dvd’s are always hard to review, as unless there is new music to be heard, you are already preaching to the converted. This dvd was recorded at the ProgPower festival back in 2014, the idea was to celebrate Pagan’s Mind first appearance at the festival back in 2003, by playing the 2002 album ‘Celestial Entrance’ in its entirety. This takes up one of the cd’s in this DVD/CD box set, the other cd contains a mix of their regular live set which includes ‘Live Your Life Like A Dream’ , ‘God’s Equation’, ‘Engimatic Mission’, ‘Eyes Of Fire’, ‘ and of course the majestic instrumental “Full Circle”, They even do a decent attempt at the David Bowie track ‘Hallo Spaceboy’. The concert is Intensely powerful and melodic, bringing out the best of Pagan’s Mind back catalogue and live favourites.
Overall the sound is spot on, dare I even say, Impressive, while the stage lighting may be a little sparse at times, it does creates a great atmosphere to allow both keyboardist Ronny Tegner and guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad to excel in their solo runs.
If you are new to progressive metal of Pagan’s Mind then this is a good a place to start, and if you are already a fan, then I am already preaching to the converted.
