Planetmosh welcomes Mojo Thunder as the Lexington, Kentucky based Southern band follow up their 2021 debut album Hymns From The Electric Chuch by releasing the first single ‘Holy Ghost’, taken from their ten track sophomore album The Infinite Hope, to be released on 16th August 2024.
Lead guitarist Bryson Willoughby adds, “Small town preachers are a community staple. This one inflates his sense of being by claiming a moral authority made permissable by a relationship with God. Scared of change and losing privilege, he makes an enemy out of progress, which manifests itself in a murder for hire.”
My take on this very impressive single is it has a sassy and classy hollered lead vocal that propels this raucous riffer along towards superhuman choruses of “Hey! Hey! Rock And Roll, Ain’t Nobody Coming To Save Your Soul. Hey! Hey! Rock And Roll, Ain’t Nobody Counting On The Holy Ghost, a seismic, bass heavy rhythm section that explodes midway from a fretboard shredding lead guitar solo and full on outro.
