FM-Brotherhood-Album Review-Planetmosh

British melodic rock legends FM are pleased to announce the release of “Don’t Call It Love,” the second single taken from their highly anticipated 15th studio album Brotherhood. Released Wednesday 6th August, the new single is a compelling rock anthem tailor-made for rock radio. Watch the official music video on YouTube.
It’s no surprise that FM’s Brotherhood album continues to showcase their signature blend of hook-laden AOR and blues-tinged hard rock that solidifies their status as masters of the genre.
To promote Brotherhood, FM will tour the UK in September 2025 with 14 confirmed shows, followed by European dates in early 2026. Tickets are available from The Gig Cartel and FM’s official website.

The quintessential majesty of FM returns with a heroes welcome for their eleven track studio album, Brotherhood, keeping the summer vibes well and truly rocking!

So here is my review of this magnum opus.

‘Do You Mean It?’ kicks in early with guitar and keys to make for a hefty intro thump around almost Gospel like fuelled verses and a short, but sweet lead guitar outro.

‘Living On The Run’ has sumptuous harmonies that fly around this story of young love, being on the wrong side of the tracks, point proven by the words of warning in the gritty choruses, making for my album highlight.

‘Coming For You’ lights up this punchy power ballad par excellence with stadium filling choruses and a fretboard burning outro.

‘Raised On The Wrong Side Of The Tracks’ is a touch of gritty blues and is a welcome stranger to this paen. Especially when the band lock in for a tight outro.

The first thing I got for ‘Loves Come To All’ was it’s slight similarity to ‘New York Groove’, the Russ Ballard classic. This bright, smile inducing song effortlessly blows the clouds away. Midway acoustic pieces add more sunshine to this sublime ballad.

The lilting intro to ‘Just Walk Away’ is so serene, it’ll have you in tears. It’s acoustic majesty is nothing less than genius.

‘Don’t Call It Love’ is one of the heavier tracks on offer here, steadfastly powering through on band fuelled vocals in the choruses for added verve, closing on another solo for the air guitarists.

‘Time Waits For No One’ has very thought provoking lyrics, addressing the subject of grabbing life while you can over sturdy bass guitar, stratospheric height reaching choruses and more guitar wizardry.

Another earworm comes from ‘Because Of You’, courtesy of the soul from ‘Everything I Own’ from Ken Boothe. It eases in on snappy drum patterns, laid back key swathes that ignites for a midway guitar solo.

‘Chasing Freedom’ has an instantly memorable intro for this song of sheer beauty, as this feelgood number brings on the tears once more, but in a good way, ruled by huge choruses, courtesy of their power and precision.

The album seems to close all too soon as ‘The Enemy Within’ has an eerie intro of keyboards and big riffs to add muscle to the rocking verses, pinned down by more band fuelled vocals and a tasty wah-wah guitar outro with repeated verses!

“Don’t Call It Love is an up-tempo old-school AOR track with a very 80s feel,” says FM’s founding member and bassist, Merv Goldsworthy. “It was one of the last songs written and recorded for the Brotherhood album. It’s a definite candidate for the live set and rock radio.”
