A New Tomorrow – Interview

Brit melodic rockers A NEW TOMORROW have just released their brand-new video for their namesake single, A New Tomorrow. The video is a stunning cinematic version of the single and its out now via Frontiers Music. Check it out here –

With all of this in mind, we asked the guys to introduce themselves:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

A New Tomorrow is a 4 piece band formed by Alessio Garavello (Vocals, Guitars), Michael Kew (Guitars), Andrea Lonardi (Bass) and Tim Hall (Drums).

How and when did the band form?

The band was formed in 2009 in London by Alessio Garavello and Andrea Lonardi just after they moved to the UK to pursue a career as musicians. The two were later joined by Tim Hall and Michael Kew. Alessio and Andrea come from the province of Verona in Italy, famous for the well preserved roman amphitheatre called Arena. Michael and Tim are both born and bred in Kent, before moving to London for the music scene.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

We felt like the band was finally complete when Michael joined in 2016 and we did a couple of tours in Europe. It felt like we were finally pushing in the same direction. After that we went straight into recording our debut album ‘Universe’, which came out in December 2019 through Frontiers Music.

Who are your musical influences?

We all come from different backgrounds and we all listen to a lot of different genres of music.

Alessio comes from metal, from the big four to more modern heavy bands like Architects. He listens to soul and funk too. Andrea has more of a Punk Rock background (like Green Day and Incubus) but he loves bands like Korn and Slipknot too. For Tim Prog Rock has been the fire that made him start playing drums. Rush, King Crimson, Dream Theater and more modern bands like Haken and Tessaract. Michael comes from the more modern side of metal like Killswitch Engage, Northlane, Architects, Thy Art Is Murder.

Where did the name of the band come from?

Most of our songs are about being positive and never giving up. We want to spread this message as much as we can. We all have those bad days where things aren’t going so well or didn’t go as we expected, that’s life.

Sometimes, when we are going through hard times, we might look around and feel like no one can really understands what we are going through. We probably don’t realise that even though we are all unique, we all face similar obstacles in life at one point or another. The band name speaks for itself; it’s about never giving up and always believing in yourself.

A New Tomorrow means another day where you can start fresh again.

Are you friends from school or any family relations?

We all met here in London going to gigs and through the underground music community.

Where have you played or toured?

We have been playing around the UK and Europe. We played Germany, Italy, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Slovakia, Switzerland supporting bands such as Fates Warning, Freedom Call, Thousand Foot Krutch and more.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

We are a hard rock band and we love to let the music speak. We are currently jamming material for our second album and we have never been in a band that takes the approach freely without overthinking the songwriting process. We wrote quite a few songs simply jamming together and letting our musical imagination free. Our second effort is going to be quite a different record too.
