Vanitas-New E.P-Journey To The Sun-Planetmosh

All hail the return of the five Birmingham based bombastic band members that have evolved into a wrecking ball machine that go under the name of Vanitas as they unleash their pounding prowess with their recently released seven track New E.P-Journey To The Sun. Vanitas will be celebrating the release of their EP with a hometown launch-show at The
Flapper, Birmingham on saturday 15th August joined by: Dacara, Away with the Seas and
Tooth and Dagger and continue their celebrations with their UK tour across the
remainder of 2025.

It opens up serenely as ‘Absence Of Light’ (intro) has eerie orchestral strings and short spoken word.

‘Eclipse’ is a bullying bludgeon of raucous death metal. Once again their dizzying array of time changes are a myriad of attention grabbing brutality and the lungstripping vocals of Jade Maris .

‘Lucid Dreams’ has jabbing intro riffs that are the calm before the storm of an armageddon inducing and also breathtaking aural assault that defies anything to stand in the way of its belligerence.

‘Your Demise’, first thought was the inventive drum patterns that lay down a red carpwt of angst for the guitars to weave and also batter this song into oblivion and not forgetting glass shattering prowess.

‘Behind The Mask’ is easily the most shuddering song in their armoury, forging along on hellish, heaving, inhuman screams that ebb and flow on multi time changes that beggar belief. Truly apocalyptic!

‘Journey To The Sun (intro)’ is short but will still hold your unwavering attention throughout this call to arms, spoken word battle cry.

This magnum opus closes on ‘Solaire’. A shimmering piano intro is the Trojan Horse as the band unload some rabid rib rattling destruction of multi genre cacophony, a guitar heavy outro and one last lilting vocal.
