Summary:

In terms of the live elements of the dvd, there is not a single fault with the set.

Opus Diaboli is the celebration of Watain’s 13 year anniversary. It represents a stunning and fascinating insight into the forbidden realms of Satanic black metal and presents the manifesto of a truly unique band that have chosen a path very few bands have dared to tread.

This package is available in three different formats:

Regular dvd (that includes two bonus cds which includes the audio recording in full of the Stockholm concert);

Limited vinyl box including the dvd, the two audio cds, 2 lps with the live recording and a historical photobook containing old flyers, and rare never published photographs;

And an exclusive Wolf Wear version available through Watain’s own merchandise company, Wolf Wear, which includes a delivery date of Walpurgisnacht (30 April – 7 days before the official release date), a hand numbered certificate signed by all members of Watain, a set of four postcards, a poster, the dvd, the two audio cds, 2 lps with the live recording and a historical photobook containing old flyers, and rare never published photographs and a t-shirt.

The movie itself was originally planned to be a recording of the 13 year anniversary concert, but dark forces had different plans for this first ever Watain dvd and it quickly became one of the most ambitious projects to date. Successfully capturing a stunning live performance, with a hand picked set ripped from the bowels of Watain’s back catalogue, with Erik providing a personal insight into the left hand path that has moulded the band throughout the years. It is also the first release on Watain’s own record Label, “His Master’s Noise”.

In terms of the live elements of the dvd you are looking at a shortened version of the legendary Stockholm performance, with tracks chosen from the bands 13 year journey to enlightenment and is as close as you will get to experiencing the might of this spellbinding act outside of seeing them in person at a concert and represents a momentous achievement for this rapidly ascending band.

From the opening invocations of “Maleitor”, the thrash elements of “Reaping Death” through to the closing of the ceremony with “Waters of Ain” there is not a single fault with the set.

Highlight of the dvd: “Reaping Death”
