VAUGHANSTROSITY is the solo project of Ruaidhri Houston. Although VAUGHANSTROSITY is a new venture, Houston has earned his stripes playing with a slew of up-and-coming bands, and more recently as bassist for acclaimed Belfast shock rockers, So Long Until The Séance.
Possessing strong musicianship, an industrious spirit, a zest for living it up, and a hearty independent drive, it was inevitable that Ruaidhri would eventually create his very own project, and VAUGHANSTROSITY is the perfect vehicle for his creative talents. Pulling inspiration from many areas of media, from graphic novels and goofy movies, through to the musical endeavors of everyone from Don Broco and Devin Townsend to Shaina Twain and Kasbo, VAUGHANSTROSITY, as you can see, is something completely different.
Since the project’s formation in 2021, intense production on shaping songs and structures led VAUGHANSTROSITY to commence work on a new debut EP, Memes And Dreams. Now fully completed and ready for public consumption, the EP was recorded at JSR in Belfast, and features the ever-talented Brett Martin of Nømadus on drums, and good friend Ethan Beatie from EB and The Deadlights, lending a hand for the vocal duties on the track, When The Party Ends. These contributions help to broaden the depth of the release, enhancing the already formidable songwriting and guile on display. Ruaidhri remarks about the project: “After ages of playing in bands and writing, I decided to strike out on my own in the hope of creating a new wave of party metal. I’m looking to navigate the metal seas to find home on an unclaimed patch of land.” If you’re looking for something that’s distinctive and unique, you need VAUGHANSTROSITY in your life.
