thedeaddaisies-faceilove-400x400The Dead Daisies are a powerful musical collective with a rotating line-up that features some of the best rock musicians on the planet and a sound that’s influenced by late ‘70s and early ‘80s hard rock – big choruses, powerful melodies and strong hooks. Following the release of their critically acclaimed album in late 2013, The Dead Daisies have now released the ‘Face I Love’ EP ‘.The Dead Daisies were formed by singer-songwriter Jon Stevens and guitarist David Lowy in 2012. The 2014 lineup includes Jon Stevens (Noiseworks/INXS) on vocals, David Lowy (Mink/Red Phoenix) on guitar, Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses/Psychedelic Furs) on lead guitar, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake) on bass, Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses/Hookers & Blow) on keys and the new addition of Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne/Billy Idol) on drums.
This 4 track EP is by its very nature frustrating, bands normally release an EP first and then an LP, however the Dead Daisies have done it the other way round, much to my annoyance, as I want more from this band, the sooner the better.
Track one. “Face I Love”. This song is very upbeat strong opening track, it has a raw, unfinished feel to it, that works well, a strong drum rhythm drive the song forward backed by some clever keyboards.
Track two is “Angel In Your Eyes”. The keyboards are the heart and soul of this track, backing up some soulful singing from Jon Stevens
Track three is “Your Karma “. The track picks up the pace from the beginning, and never lets off, opening with powerful screaming vocal, great guitar riffs, a solid bass line and complimentary keyboard’s, this is a throwback to classic Aerosmith sounding rock.
Track four is ” Helter Skelter“. This is a brilliant version of the Beatles classic. They have put their own stamp on this by going for a more heavier sound, with a great 80’s sounding guitar tone.

Frustratingly, that is it, four tracks of pure brilliance, can’t wait for the new album, though we have no idea when that will be.
