State Of Millenia – Interview

UK newcomers STATE OF MILLENIA have just set loose their blistering new album, Feel Alive. With growing support, we asked the band to introduce themselves:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

Jordan is our lead vocalist, Reece plays Rhythm / lead guitar as well as doing backing vocals, Danny plays rhythm / lead guitar, Dylan is on bass and Jules is our drummer.

How and when did the band form?

We formed in the the early months of 2016 in college. We all studied Popular Music and we were all on the same course.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

We started jamming in a rehearsal room in college one day and we all just clicked musically. We’ve been writing together ever since.

Who are your musical influences?

Jordan : Coldplay, Eminem, Passanger, Knuckle Puck, Daniel Caesar

Reece : Deftones, Knuckle puck, Loathe and Northlane.

Danny : My influences always change; however right now? I’d say Loathe, Sleep Token and Holding Absence.

Dylan : Issues, Boston Manor, Knuckle Puck, Lower Than Atlantis and Basement.

Jules : A Day To Remember, Trash Boat, Neck Deep and Stray From The Path.

Where did the name of the band come from?

We literally went on a band name generator and merged two results “state” & “millennia”

Danny thought spelling it incorrectly would be “edgy”, but really he can’t spell.

Are you friends from school or any family relations?

As previously mentioned, Reece and Dylan are brothers and the rest of us met in college!

Where have you played or toured?

As we are still an ever-growing band, we have only played shows in the south of England.

We did a small weekender in 2017 which was really fun. We were given the opportunity to play at the 2017 Moto GP at Silverstone which was amazing!

We also played our friends in Death Remains’ album release show and we recently played a show with our new friends in Palmist.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

We like to stay true in what we enjoy writing and we write what we would listen to as well, otherwise what’s the point?

It’s hard to find individuality in the music industry these days however, we love experimenting in as many aspects as we can to keep things fresh.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

We’d say it’s rough yet delicate at times, kind of like a Rose. It has thorns that’ll cut you deep and yet its petals are delicate to touch.
