Summary:

The guitar playing is superb, the vocals are great and the songs are very well written - what's not to like?

Louisiana slide-guitarist Sonny Landreth has a new album, just released via Provogue/Mascot label group. Entitled “Blacktop run” it’s a mix of songs and instrumentals with a wide level of diversity.

“Don’t ask me” is primarily accordion and percussion and while acoustic it’s got a more intricate sound than a typical acoustic guitar led track. It’s got a nice laid back sound. The following track, “The wilds of wonder” has plenty of contrast to it though as it’s drums and electric guitar driven sound is very different to the acoustic accordion/percussion combo. Despite this, “The wilds of wonder” is no flat out rock song, it’s still quite a mellow sound. Check it out here..

My favourite track on the album though has to be the instrumental “Groovy goodness” with it’s beautiful guitar work. Check it out here…
