Sicktrust were formed in 2010 in Philadelphia by four veterans of the local heavy metal community.. In August 2011 they released their self titled debut album.
Listening to the album, my first thought is that whoever did the mixing really didnt do a very good job – the sound is pretty muddy and that takes the edge off the music straight away so the band is fighting an uphill battle to sound good.
“Loud and heavy” sums up Sicktrust in just three words. The vocals are fairly generic heavy vocals – growled more than sung, but do the job well.
For me the big problem with this album is that it sounds so generic – you can go to pretty much any metal night where local bands are playing and you’ll hear stuff that sounds like this. It’s good but not good enough to stand out against the huge amount of competition.
