Punk Rock Legends & Rising Stars Return With More Holiday-Themed Tunes on PUNK ROCK CHRISTMAS VOL 2

Those guys at Cleopatra Records have really gone to town this year to bring you 26 epic punk rock songs from various artists. Christmas might’ve just rolled by but’s it’s not too late to pour yourself a Baileys and grab a leftover mince pie and give this cracking album, Punk Rock Christmas Vol 2 a play. After all, Punk rock is for life not just for Christmas!!

Punk rock Christmas 2 follows on the heels of the massively successful Punk Rock Christmas released in 2015 and pulls together an even larger gathering of Punk rock all-stars who perform a sligh-full of highly original Christmas themed songs that are sure to become staples at every family’s holiday sing-a-long, such as The Vibrators ”Santa had to go to rehab” and MDC’s ”(Merry Christmas) World’s On Fire”. They also transform several well-trod Christmas favourites, from ”O Holy Night” to Santa Claus Is Coming to Town’ into shiny new musical gifts for the punk rock lover in your life.

PlanetMosh reviewers Alex and Louise had this to say

Christmas might be over but it’s still the season to be jolly. With 26 Punk Xmas themed songs from originals to covers that will keep you hanging on for the next one.   Spread your joy by Rocking Around the Christmas Tree with Dave Smalley & The Bandoleros.  Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer might be back in Lapland but the bluesy Johnny Thunders is having a really good time as he swaggers along on this classic cover.

The quirky original and lesser-known tracks have to go to Ship Thieves  Who Put The Gum In Santas Beard and The Vibrators Santa Had to go Rehab.

My ultimate favourite has to be the sleazy-post-punk Fairy Tales by Splinter, they have synthesised a sound mixed between The Prodigy meets Warrior Soul, high on acid. Take a trip as traditions are broken on this bolshy homage to fictional characters.

Like a Christmas Dinner with a host of tantalising flavours which all come together to make something tasty.  Punk Rock Volume 2 blends together a taste of My Chemical Romance, a nip of Penetration, a slug of The Pogues, pinches of Discharge, The Ramones and Status Quo to make an appetising treat.

Highlight track off the album for me was Christmas Sucks (You Stupid Fucks!) by Spears, not Britney! With its superfast rhythm and punishing beat, I initially thought they were singing ‘Christmas Socks’ and were not in favour of such. I realised they were actually singing ‘Christmas Sucks‘ and were not in favour of Christmas at all! I particularly liked the lyric – ‘Your sweater’s dumb and so are you!‘  I don’t mind Christmas and a chance to overindulge and swap gifts but I do hate Christmas Sweaters – they suck but the song rocks!

Have yourself a Merry Punk rocking time
