Justin Larner – Interview

Talented Brit guitarist and songwriter, JUSTIN LARNER has just released his striking new album, Hot and Dangerous, and it’s a stormer. Check out his new video: –

We chatted with Justin and asked him to give some background on the project and more:

What is the full line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

All guitars – Justin Larner,

Drums – Gary Eric Evans,

Vocals – Joe Hill, Jonny Sparks, Elisha Martin, Jane Gould.

When and how did things really start gelling and solidifying?

Me and Gary have been playing together in bands for years and are solid unit together but after the collapse of our last band I decided I still wanted to put out all the music I had so I enlisted my talented vocalist friends to help write vocals over some tracks and everything just ended up Perfect straight away.

Who are your musical influences?

My guitar heroes are people like Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, George Lynch, I could go on. Most of the 80’s hard rock legends really. A lot of the top players were often paired with great vocalist, so I wanted to keep things traditional in that sense and I think it has paid off.

How far back does your history go with the other players on the record?

Some I’ve known for up to 9 years (joe and Gary) and some just for maybe 2 or 3 (Jonny, Elisha and Jane)

In your opinion, how is your project different from all the other bands out there?

It spans across a wide range of rock/metal genres with a more diversity than most because of the multiple singers that cover more ground stylistically.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

Like being slapped with all the best parts of the 80s…today!
