HOUNDS – Interview

UK metal hardcorers HOUNDS have just dropped their blistering new single and video, Beast, https://youtu.be/QjduFVmW0K8 . With this in mind, we asked the guys to introduce themselves:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

Ashley : Vocals, Dave: Guitar, Josh: Drums, Ben, Bass and Connor : Guitar.

How and when did the band form?

Band formed in 2013 as Dead Town Nothing and played under this name until 2016 when the band went on a hiatus due to a personal loss.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

The band really solidified and gelled in 2014 when there was a line up change, from then the band went from strength to strength until the Hiatus In 2016.

Who are your musical influences?

Terror, Brutality Will Prevail, Feed the Rhino, Killswitch Engage, Dillinger Escape Plan, Lion Heart, Stray from the Path to name but a few.

Where did the name of the band come from?

The name HOUNDS was something that we had originally targeted as a song name. But with the hiatus and rebirth of the band it was decided that we would use this name as the band name to move from Dead Town Nothing.

How far back does your history with each other (the band members) extend?

A long time…..we have all been friends for years, some of us went to school with each other and grew up in the same area.

Are you friends from school or any family relations?

Friends from school and social.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

We write music for ourselves and we try to add our own unique style to our genre of hardcore, we try not to copy or emulate other bands already out there. We also want very much our fans to be part of our journey and we always talk to them and interact with them over social media.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

Loud, heavy, real, aggressive, Passionate, rough and hard. An assault to the ears!
