This release heralds the German bands third full length offering and their first since 2004’s “Heimwege”.
A long gap it must be said but the wait has definitely been worth it, ten tracks of beautifully dark electro tinged Metal to both stimulate and sooth the soul. Tracks such as “Stahl trifft Kopf” for example oozes doom laden emotion from start to finish, whilst “Morgenrot”, with it’s thumping drums and almost Pop tinged bass line lifts the tempo to a marching pace before the piano led “Schatten” brings the pace and mood back down a peg or two.
As the band sing in their native tongue then comparisons to another German language Metal band are inevitable, however Ewigheim can proudly stand tall with this album, full of mood swings and pace changes it really does require a couple of listens to fully grasp what’s on offer but once there you will find an excellent and well crafted album, which must surely represent their finest work to date.
Finally, if you can, grab the Digipak version as it contains an extra bonus track.
