Babyjane – Make it sick

babyjane - make it sickAustralian rock band Babyjane released their excellent debut album, “Are you listening” in 2011, and are now back with their second album – “Make it sick”.  The band have played plenty of gigs including supporting former Iron Maiden singer Paul DiAnno and former skid row singer Sebastian Bach.
The new album has been produced by Michael Wagener, who has worked with bands such as Metallica, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row, Dokken and many more – an impressive producer for a small band to sign up.

Brief comments on a few tracks…

Opening track “Make it sick” features a guest appearance on vocals from John Corabi (Motley Crue, Union, The Scream).  It gets the album off to a great start with a track that has a real LA Guns sound – actually it’s probably better than some of the LA Guns songs.  It’sa full power fast paced sleazy hard rock song.

Things slow slightly for “She’s just a liar” which is more of a mid-paced track.

“New York queen/London whore” is about Nancy Spungen, the drug addict girlfriend of Sex Pistols Bassist Sid Vicious.  It’s another great heavy rock track.

“Bad woman” is a slow bluesy ballad with some great emotion-filled vocals.

Both albums by Babyjane (“Are you listening” and “Make it sick”) are well worth listening to, and fans of bands such as LA Guns and other sleazy hard rock bands from the late 80s are almost certainly going to enjoy both.  If you can only afford one though go for “Make it sick” – it’s the newer album and the better of the two.
